Deborah Jamini is the Composer in Residence of Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York. In addition, she has a prolific background as a performer and an educator. During her career, she has been creating materials that are specifically tailored to meet the needs of students of different backgrounds and age groups. She has drawn on her experiences to develop new methods of teaching music theory, harmony and composition through an approach that equally benefits those looking to pursue a career in music as well as amateur music lovers.

Her approach offers a fusion of the great traditions dating from the Renaissance to popular contemporary idioms. Her methods define those elements that mark the different styles created within our multifaceted musical language, giving ambitious students the competitive edge while presenting topics in an imaginative, user-friendly approach. Her innovative techniques incorporate electronic support in ways that revolutionize the visual/aural experience. She has prepared numerous young musicians for careers in music—both popular as well as classical—and her energetic personality have enabled her to become a highly sought-after educator in the world of music today.

Deborah Jamini is a member of the Preparatory faculty at the Mannes College of Music, a division of the New School University, and has held teaching positions at the Trevor Day School, the Diller-Quaile School and the Lucy Moses School. In addition, her career includes work as a pianist, singer, and composer, and in 2007 won a hymn competition that was created for the celebration of the Archdiocese of New York's bicentennial year.

Deborah Jamini also works extensively as a singer and a pianist. She is alto section lead, soloist, and quartet alto at Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and has cantored at Saint Malachy's Church. She is also a rehearsal pianist for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and has worked with artists including Christoph Eschenbach, Rossen Milanov, Marisol Montalvo, and Gil Shaham. In addition, she has recorded seven compact discs with ensembles including the William Appling Singers & Orchestra and Amor Artis. Chamber music performances have included members of the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony, and the Toledo Symphony. In addition to winning the Archdiocese of New York's bicentennial hymn commission, awards include a Prix d’excellence and Fellowship at the Ecoles d’arts Américaines in France, an Artists International Award in New York City, and grants from the Mannes College of Music and the New School University. She has been listed for several years in Who's Who in America.

Her current books include Harmony and Composition and the new, three-volume series Music Theory Step By Step, which breaks down the system in a method that is suitable for the younger beginner, as well as for adults who prefer to learn at a relaxed, leisurely pace.
